Being a Soldier of Christ isn't about declaring war against the world. It's about confronting the battles within ourselves so we can become a source of light, love, and compassion in the world around us.
Jesus didn't simply come to show us who He was. He came to show us who we could become when we surrender our egos, confront our darkness, and align our lives with God's purpose. He demonstrated a way of living rooted in unconditional love, humility, forgiveness, courage, integrity, and compassion. And I believe we weren't just called to admire His example. We were called to embody it.
Christ means Anointed One. And while I don't believe any of us are Jesus Christ Himself, I believe we are called to carry His spirit, reflect His character, and become willing vessels through which God's love can move. In John 14:12, Jesus tells His followers that whoever believes in Him will do the works He has been doing, and even greater works. Imagine what humanity could become if we truly believed that and chose to live accordingly.
That's what being a Soldier of Christ means to me.
The armor represents the character we develop. The sword represents truth. The shield represents faith. The wing symbolizes spiritual freedom, while the broken chain reminds us that we don't have to remain prisoners of who we once were. The surrounding figures embody the virtues we must practice: authenticity, love, integrity, compassion, humility, patience, and discernment.
And the battlefield? That isn't simply the world outside us. It's the daily struggle between ego and humility, judgment and understanding, resentment and forgiveness, fear and faith.
Our greatest battles aren't always fought against others. Sometimes they're fought against the parts of ourselves that keep us from loving others.
Inspired by 2 Timothy 2:2, this piece reminds us that what we learn, live, and become should never end with us. We have a responsibility to pass it forward, to lead by example, and to help others recognize the light within themselves.
Because the world doesn't need more people claiming to represent Christ while condemning everyone around them. It needs more people willing to live as Christ taught.
Not throwing stones. Not building walls. But building something greater through every act of compassion.
We are not called merely to wear the armor. We are called to become the example.
